It's never easy to paint at home with all the dust so credit to you, as I know what it's like!!!

weld no.... It was kinda a spur of the moment thing I had the other week. So it's bog, which also helps round out the corner nicely, as we can see in this picture: Also congrats to stu for picking the mod too
the whole car has two coats now: the bonnet esp came up pretty good:
Unfortunately there are a few dribbles and lots of spots with where paint dust has dried over a nice finish, which is a real shame, cause most of the painting was pretty damn good.
more pics:
The roof, (this is a good view , unfortunately there are a few bumps on it which I'm V.unhappy about, but oh well...)
Playing with my light. This is on a real bad spot where we scratched the first coat of paint real bad. I was v.unhappy with that. We'll have to hit this with another coat. If you saw it in person you would understand.
and all tucked away for the night. My garage is a complete mess now.
oh and I just finished painting my car.
hm..
WOOOOT!!!! Im quite excited, I doubt I'll sleep tonight!!

Good stuff, and i mean't the whole thing is going smoothly..
The paint on the other hand... It looks good too. Nice and even, good for a home job. Should come up sweet when you hit it with wet 1500 and buff it.
Good stuff.
Lucky for me i know a really good panel beater, so i got the job on mine done for chips, otherwise i'd be in the same boat as you..

Yea, I'll touch up a few spots first perhaps (the dribbles) before wetsanding (to avoid over spray). Hopefully I can touch up those spots tomoro arvo
I was planning on doing 1200 the cutting compound, then polish, (im not going to bother with a clear coat i dont think, as they are better baked)
For all those who are interested, I've used nearly 3 litres of paint at a 1:1.5 ratio (or a bit more thinners, cause of the heat) I've got a little bit left and still need to do under the hood, and the inside of one of the doors, and hopefully have enough for some touch up's along the way. Oh and I havn't painted the front yet either. damn. I forgot about that part. Looks like I'll need another litre probably.

not atm. I've worked 9 of the last 10 days full time (8 or 9 hour days) at the tennis, so no time to organise much stuff really.
Got a rear window seal of Alex (instnsemk1) yesterday, that I think I'll get the window man to pop in, and josh is coming over tonight to touch up a spot or two on the paint and paint under the bonnet and a few other spots. and yea.
Hopefully I'll have it RW'd, Red'g etc etc by mid feb. I'm so excited. the finish line is near.

All you need is a friend who is good with their hands, 2 pairs of gloves and some thick venetian blind cord..

I'm more worried about busting the window as I take that out...I've heard these are really easy to crack/break???

Just put a slice through it 90deg to the rubber, lift up one corner where you just cut and slide the knife blade under.
Cut the back lip a little and pull on the bit coming off to allow access (it doesn't grab on the blade this way, so its easier to cut) to the knife blade.
Then just simply cut and peel away the back lip the whole way round and the window will pop straight out.
Easy.
